Born in Barcelona in 1960, he is Doctor in Biology, Master in Ecology by the UAB and Master in Tecnology and Environmental Management by the UPC.
He has been a researcher at the Center for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has been technician of the Service of Planning of the Natural Environment to the Department of the Environment of the Generalitat of Catalonia. Since 1999, he has led a professional consultancy and study IRBIS (Estudio Xavier Mayor et al., SL) specializing in ecology applied to urban planning and territory, as well as sustainability, from which he has made a neat and often innovative career. He has also developed a profuse activity as a specialist teacher in Masters, Postgraduate and other specialized courses, as well as lectures, conferences, scientific publications, techniques and also specialized opinion in the written press, radio and television.
He is currently a Member of the Council for the Protection of Nature in Catalonia. He has been Vicepresident of the Catalan Society for Territorial Planning (Institute of Catalan Studies); member of the Board of Directors of the Bosch i Cardellach Foundation of Sabadell and coordinator of the Territory and Urban Space Section thereof; and secretary on the Board of Directors of the College of Ambientologists of Catalonia.
