-What is feasibility?, Asked Alexander Chemetoff referring to the ‘Plan-Guide’ that among 9 years orchestrated the slow transformation of the ‘Île de Nantes’.
It is the invention of the possibility of a project in a specific place and time, to choose the operators and players or accompany those who are already there. (…)
Feasibility is a manner of exploring possible ways so that a project materializes, preparing the conditions and accompanying the stages from invention of the program to tracking of materialization, and the details of the interface with public areas. Crossing scales and competences pertains to the Plan-Guide.
Every detail or every project is part of a whole and serves as a field of experimentation. It determines and transforms the circumstances of each situation and models the overall plan as if it were the result of the prospective whole, at the same time a harvest plan and future prediction. (…)
THE WORKSHOP STRUCTURE
What & Why:
It is proposed to design an experimental and open methodology to be able to promote the feasibility, advent and adaptability of the hypotheses through three project times with different capacity for transformation, impact and resource mobilization:
- Immediate and palpable time: ‘early victories’;
- Recurretn and cyclical time, ‘protocols‘ and differentiated management;
- Intense and experimental time of ‘prototypes’ or ‘pilot projects’.
How:
The course will be developed in teams of 3 people. Each team will be responsible for designing a global strategy and proposing a pilot project as a field of experimentation.
Each team will appoint one responsible for each of the three project times mentioned: early victories, protocols and prototypes.
Site & Scale
The workshop will develop along 17 km of the border Collserola mountain, in its ecotone with the centers of Sant Cugat, Cerdanyola and Rubí. The workshop will be developed simultaneously at various temporal and spatial scales.
Studio structure & conditions
The workshop takes the form of a project with intensive classes from 10:00 to 20:00 from 17th to 28th July. There will be a several ‘table’ correction sessions accompanied by external technicians and technicians from the local world.

Outcomes
The objective of the workshop is designing a method that instrumentalises the temporal dimension as an agent for the feasibility of a landscape infrastructure project in different scales and cycles. We propose that the final exhibition take the form of a time-line (6m of wall) where pre-figured the deployment of the different actions, plans and protocols that will be conceived as possible scenarios.
